The World History Encyclopedia (formerly the Ancient History Encyclopedia) provides a multitude of resources to engage the public in world history and cultural heritage. There are numerous encyclopedia-style articles on a range of historical and archaeological topics including, art and architecture, daily life, biographies of famous individuals, places, states, time periods, religions, and warfare. The coverage of the site is primarily ancient and medieval, but it is expanding into the Medieval, Early Modern, and Modern periods. There is also a repository of materials for educators such as timelines, quizzes, a media library, and translations of ancient documents. There is also a growing collection of YouTube videos and podcasts on world history subjects. Many of the articles have been translated into a variety of languages.

This project by the Universitāt Leipzig (SEAL) is an ongoing project which started in 2007. It aims to compile an exhaustive catalogue of Akkadian literary texts from the 3rd and 2nd millennia BCE, to present this corpus in such a way as to enable the efficient study of the entire early Akkadian corpus in all its philological, literary, and historical dimensions. Many of the editions in SEAL rely on new collations and photographs.
