  • “Souling” harkens back to the ancient Gaelic festival of Samhain, where it was believed that spirits or souls would return to our world, and the connection between the living and the dead was stronger during Samhain. This was a time of feasting and celebration, to welcome dead relatives and ancestors back to their home. One of the traditions done by Celts and early European Christians involved baking little cookies named "soul cakes" to appease the souls of the dead during Samhain, otherwise celebrated as All Hallows Night.
