Halloween Bash Master Class- The Wahy of a Warrior: Spirit companions and supernatural forces among the ancestral Maya

Vases and carvings show ancestral Maya people interacting with humanoid beasts and supernatural forces. Some appear unassuming and gentle, while others are terrifying spirits of the underworld. These strange and often frightening "co-essences" are known as wahyoob, and ancestral Maya rulers channelled them in rituals and battles. Although they range from frogs and deer to skeletal bringers of pestilence and dread, they all have one thing in common: a metaphysical link to an individual human. In this Master Class with Mayanist Zac Lindsey, we'll look at wahy vases, learn about these sublime beings, and read common hieroglyphs related to the wahyoob together.
