Outreach

  • Forms relationships & partnerships with organizations, individuals, & businesses to help further our shared missions to Save Ancient Studies!

  • Interns will seek out potential partners, help draft language for outreach, & work to maintain and grow relationships.

Archaeogaming

  • Work with scholars to create complete Archaepgming lesson plans.

  • Preference will be given to individuals with prior experience in K-12 classroom settings, development of script guidelines, editing scripts & videos & distribution to public schools.

Inspire Campaign

  • Create 2021-2022 addition of SASA's Inspire Social Media Campaign

  • Take interesting ancient topics & connect them to scholarship behind the scenes

  • Hone your research & writing skills!

We are aware of the problems surrounding unpaid labor, which is why we are actively working towards raising funds, applying for grants and getting donations. SASA is seeking an Virtual Conference Coordinator

(Volunteer, unpaid position)

  • Plan and execute the creation, organization, and advertising of the second SASA/Digital Hammurabi Virtual Conference (August 2022) over the course of December 2021 - August 2022!

  • Expected work hours are 5 hours per week from 12/1/2021 - 4/30/2021, and 10-15 hours per week from 5/1/2022 - 8/31/2022.

  • All meetings take place via video call and all work is done remotely. The Virtual Conference Coordinator should expect to have weekly meetings with SASA Director David Danzig and other Virtual Conference organizers.

  • Design, develop, and manage a Patreon Account on behalf of SASA, which includes researching Patreon Accounts of similar organizations, innovating a robust rewards program, monthly rates, and coordinating distribution of rewards to Patreon Members.

  • Expected hours: 10-15 hours per week.

Call for Archaeogaming Experts

SASA is seeking Archaeogaming Experts

(Volunteer, unpaid position)

The SASA Gaming Team is looking for experts in both the ancient world and/or game design and development to share their knowledge and thoughts with a wide, inclusive audience. We invite contributions on all ancient cultures and aspects of the ancient world, as well as reflections on its reception and in-game representations.

 

Our initiative will consist of three main types of events:

  • Live streams of games set in or dealing with the ancient world with running commentary by experts in the field

  • Short videos in which scholars and devs can dive deeper into a topic of their choice using video games as a medium

  • Game reviews based on their simulations of historical periods and locations

SASA is seeking a Video Editor

(Volunteer, unpaid position)

  • Help edit a variety of videos, mainly recordings of our Live Events, for their dissemination as on-demand video content.

  • Edit recorded Live Events and other recorded promotional materials to make them suitable for SASA to present on our YouTube channel and in other contexts.

  • Position is best suited for someone with prior video editing experience, either in formal or informal contexts
