Working with SASA opens up more opportunities for me to learn about new things. For example, learning an interesting fact about the ancient world or designing the SASA website with WIX. My experience is made better with the support of everyone on the SASA team.

All of our staff and interns are students and/or early career scholars/professionals who volunteer their time to bring SASA projects and content to you!

WHAT WE DO

COMMUNICATIONS  

  • Designed SASA branding and website

  • Create SASA Oracle and mass emails

  • Design social media posts, in collaboration with the social media campaign team

  • Brainstorm and research about social media strategies to reach wider audiences

  • Research and gather evidence of The Downward Trend in Ancient Studies 

  • Create a white paper about the state of Ancient Studies 

  • Research and gather evidence of the negative views about Ancient Studies 

  • Create material about the importance of Ancient Studies 

FUNDRAISING

  • Grant writing and research

  • Fundraising campaigns, crowdfunding

  • Nonprofit organizational development

  • Nonprofit administration

VIRTUAL CONFERENCE

  • ​Schedule, organize, and develop virtual conference

  • find potential speakers and participants

ACCESS

  •  Provide greater ease of access for Ancient Studies information

  • compiling and developing a platform listing online resources in all Ancient Studies fields

  • research to discover, evaluate, and categorize Ancient Studies websites

INSPIRE CAMPAIGN

  • Conduct research on a variety of ancient world subjects to create content for the year long social media campaign

  • Write, record, film and edit social media content

  • Find reliable sources (such as articles, podcasts, videos) about the ancient world to accompany the social media content

  • Design social media posts in collaboration with the communications team

OUTREACH

  • First point of contact for SASA community

  • Initiate and develop partnerships with others with similar goals and manage Port Ancient: a hub for Ancient Studies

  • Pave the way for SASA to become present at events and begin conversations about SASA resources

  • Drive SASA's growth by involving educators in elementary and secondary schools and providing materials and tools to increase interest in Ancient Studies.

ARCHAEOGAMING

  • SASA's newest project! 

  • Helping promote Ancient Studies in schools through the creation of specially crafted Archaeogaming modules.

  • Collaborating with archaeogamers to script short videos, draft module outlines, and write lesson plans. 

  • Researching and writing supplementary information packs for teachers. 

  • Research and write grants to raise funding.

  • Contacting teachers and archaeogamers to help grow the project and spark increased interest in SASA and Ancient Studies.

NORTH TEXAS

  • Working to generate interest in Ancient Studies among high school and college students in North Texas.

  • Coordinating interactive programming and collaboration with local organizations and institutions.

  • Creating a network of organizations and educators in North Texas who utilize Ancient Studies content to encourage higher education and intellectual growth.

EXECUTIVE TEAM

  • This Team is the engine that keeps SASA running smoothly.

  •  Handling SASA’s administration,

  • Recruiting, finances, legal matters, productivity software, internal processes, and more.

  • Since SASA is a fast-growing start-up organization, the Executive Team innovates new processes, procedures, and tools to support the development of all the other Teams.

  • Participating in the Executive Team is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in exploring non-profit management and administration.

LIVE EVENTS TEAM

  • We develop, plan, and run SASA’s live events, including Expert Q&A’s, Archaeogaming, and Monthly Book Club.

  • Interns participate in the entire event creation and production cycle, from soliciting new presenters to organizing events, assisting in live event production, to post-event communications, video editing, and posting.

WHAT WE OFFER
